Richard
Maes overcame two punctures at the Munster Cyclocross Series in Limerick
yesterday for his fourth win of the season.
Grace
Young claimed the women’s race to make it a double victory for Strata
3-VeloRevolution.
Young
is back to winning ways having crashed and broken her collar bone during Rás na
mBan in September.
That
crash put her out of the final round of the National Road Series and she relinquished
the overall lead and outright victory as a result.
However,
yesterday she hit the front early and pulled out a gap to win it well from Nessa Rochford (De Ronde van Cork) with Agnieszka
Wozniak (Strata 3-VeloRevolution) in 3rd place.
In the
men’s race Maes got out front early and though he punctured on the third and
seventh laps, as Paid O’Brien (Verge Pic Cycles) was pushing him hard, Maes ran
out the winner.
O’Brien
took the runner-up spot with Richie Barry (St
Finbarr’s) rounding
out the podium.
Michael O’Loughlin (Le Col Wiggins) was 4th with Dillon Corkery (Bio-DHL-FRS) 5th and Trevor Woods (Strata3-VeloRevolution) in 6th.
The race went ahead yesterday as a replacement event after De Ronde van Cork was forced to cancel it's racing planned for Tramore Valley Park due to an insurance dispute with Cork City Council.
