Video: Sagan's amazing skills to avoid Cancellara pavé crash

Watched closely, this really is an incredible bit of bike handling from Peter Sagan of Tinkoff on the pavé of Paris-Roubaix.

Fabian Cancellara’s hopes of bowing out of Paris-Roubaix with a fourth victory in Sunday's race took a fatal blow at the Mons-en-Pévèle section of pavé.

The Swiss rider was third in line in the Giant-Alpecin led group chasing the breakaway when he slipped off the top of the stones and crashed down hard.

Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) was right behind him and, just as he had done in the final of Milan-San Remo last month, the world champion showed some absolutely amazing bike handling stay upright.

If you watch the video below closely, you’ll see Sagan’s right leg comes out of his pedals, perhaps done in instinct to balance himself.

He then does a split second wheelie going over Cancellara’s bike before coming down on his front wheel.

Somehow he managed to steady himself, rode on the soft margin where the spectators were and then popped back out on the cobbles – an incredible bike handler.
