Construction work has been underway at the new National Velodrome and Badminton Centre since the start of this year. And now this new video footage, recorded by drone, reveals the sheer scale of the progress to date.
Stickybottle in early February brought you the first photographs and video of construction commencing and now the main contractor, Walls Construction, has shown just how the project is motoring along.
Even to the untrained eye, the shape of the velodrome is clearly visible after the significant excavation work at the site, and foundations having been poured.
And while we are still over a year away from the facility being completed and ready for action, the rate of progress now is stunning in just a few months.
"Construction continues to advance at the National Velodrome & Badminton Centre, with works progressing across several key areas of this landmark development," Walls said.
"In recent weeks substantial work has been completed on the foundations, reinforced concrete cores and extensive external works.
“At the same time, key elements are being delivered off site, including structural steel fabrication, precast concrete production, timber cassette panel manufacturing, and aluminium cladding.
"With the project on programme, it’s fantastic to see Ireland's first purpose-built velodrome taking shape. And we look forward to sharing more milestones as this exciting facility moves closer to completion."
The velodrome is being build by Walls for Sport Ireland, with project management by Cogent Associates Ireland.
