Video - Tour de France yellow jersey crashes into team mate

Torstein Træen, the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, crashed into his team mate on the descent of the Tourmalet

Torstein Træen (Uno-X Mobility), who took the Tour de France yellow jersey two days ago - and recovering from cancer - has had a nightmare stage 6 today on the Tourmalet stage.

The Norwegian was dropped on the Tourmalet, with his efforts in the breakaway into Foix on stage 4 clearly coming back to bite him.

It didn’t help that UAE Team Emirates XRG set a blistering pace on the mountain, setting up an attack for its team leader Tadej Pogačar.

And as Træen was in recovery mode going down the descent, looking to limit the damage, he ran into his team mate on a left hander hairpin.

He tried to miss hitting the wheel in front, but braked too hard on the front, sending the back of his bike into the air and the Norwegian rider off his bike.

While he was assessed at the scene by the race doctors for quite some time, including undergoing the concussion protocol, he was able to get back on his bike and continue in the race.
