Patrick Bevin epic Tour de France TT crash

Patrick Bevin continued after this Tour de France crash during the stage 1 TT today. The Kiwi is riding for Cannondale-Drapac and his spill has been captured in a fan's clip.

He's already rocketing across the wet tarmac when he comes into shot.

And both Bevin and his bike are left spinning in the road, such as the speed of the smash.

But he got back to his feet and was back on his bike in no time. Let's hope there are no concussion issues that prevent him from continuing in the race.

His instinct to set get back on his bike really underlines just how tough these pro riders are.

The 26-year-old finished in 180th place of the 198-rider field, but he finished.

“Concussion testing was done on the bus immediately following his race,” Cannondale-Drapac said of Patrick Bevin.

“We can confirm that Paddy had zero concussion symptoms and no damage to his helmet following his crash.

“Paddy was checked for other injuries as well. He sustained some hip abrasions and a minor ankle injury.

Patrick Bevin will be well known to Irish cycling fans as he rode the Rás in 2014 and did some amazing rides.

He won stage 2 into Lisdoonvarna on his own by two minutes and took the yellow jersey.

And then two days later he took victory again; this time into  Cahirciveen in a sprint from a 30-rider group.

He would lose his yellow jersey the following day. His bid to keep it was not helped by some of his New Zealand National Team being wiped out by the bug that swept through the peloton that year.

He would win the points classification and turned pro with Cannondale-Drapac two years later.
