Video: Pro back from brink and winning (but with more mishap)

This was the scene in January after a car hit Giant Alpecin out training. And even though Max Walscheid has been involved in another few incidents in recent days he's still back to winning ways and that's the main thing.

It's hard to know whether to feel sorry for Max Walscheid or to be delighted for him; maybe a bit of both.

The 23-year-old is in his second full year at WorldTour level and has taken two wins for Giant Alpecin at the Tour of Hainan (2.HC) which is currently underway in China.

He also has the race lead for his troubles; taking that yellow jersey by winning Monday's stage 3 and proving victorious again on stage 4 yesterday.

All so far so good, we hear you say.

However, he could have taken his first win of the season on Saturday's opener only to celebrate too early in the bunch sprint.

He was pipped on the line by Rafael Andriato (Wilier-Southeast) and buried his head in his hands at missing the stage win and yellow jersey.

He followed that up with 4th on Sunday's stage 2 and then finally got the victory he'd been looking for - and the leader's jersey - on Monday's stage 3.

The only problem was as he was (understandably) showboating to the TV camera just after the finish he changed direction and one of the Lampre riders ploughed into him; with the footage beamed around the world.

At least yesterday he did it right; sprinting to a clear win without incident, either on or after the line!

You can catch up on his, erm, adventures in the clips below.

On a serious note though, he was one of six Giant Alpecin riders injured in a training camp crash in Spain in January when he broke his leg after they were all hit by a car.
