Rui Costa channeled his inner David Millar at Tour de Suisse today when he went for a bike throw (video below) after crashing - something we haven't seen for a long time.
The UAE Team Emirates rider came a cropper towards the end of today's stage 2, when he appeared to be surprised by a speed bump in soaking wet conditions.
He hit the deck hard and then skid across the road before getting back to his feet and flinging his Colnago across the road in frustration.
The last time a UAE Team Emirates rider did anything like was was Fabio Aru giving out about his bike live on TV after crashing at La Vuelta - you can see that incident by clicking on this link. Aru had to ring Ernesto Colnago that night to apologise.
Former world champion Rui Costa's bike throw effort today wasn't quite in the same league as the worst bike throw we've ever seen - by a crit rider in the US five years ago - but it still didn't look great on TV.
In his defence, he was soaking wet at the time and under pressure after a very hard stage and hitting the deck so suddenly can't have been much fun. His crash and his bike throw are below.
We've also included, below, clips of David Millar's infamous bike throw after his chain snapped when going for a stage win at the 2008 Giro. And, below, you cam also see Bradley Wiggins throw his bike at the Giro in 2013.
