There wasn't much left of the bike as it lay crushed this morning under this truck's wheels in city centre Dublin. Incredibly the cyclist survived.
Photographs have emerged of the aftermath of a collision in Dublin's north inner city this morning, Wednesday, showing just how fortunate the cyclist was to escape.
The incident occurred at around 8.45am at the junction of North Circular Road and Portland Row.
The bike went under the truck's wheels and was completely crushed but somehow the cyclist managed to avoid being dragged under too.
The cyclist was taken to the Mater Hospital by ambulance and while the road was closed for a short period it was quickly examined and re-opened.
The photos taken by local Dublin City Council member Cllr Nial Ring capture the really serious nature of the crash.
Thankfully the cyclist is being medically treated and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
