
A man riding an e-bike has been seriously injured in an "incident" in Tralee, Co Kerry, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The injured man has been taken to hospital for treatment and a Garda investigation has begun.
The scene of the crash was sealed off by gardaí and the e-bike the man was riding has also been taken to be examined and tested by technical experts
Gardaí released a statement confirming the inquiry had begun and also appealing for any witnesses to come forward and help the investigation.
"At approximately 12:45 am, emergency services were alerted after a cyclist was found unresponsive on the roadside at Bracker O’Regan Road, Tralee," the Garda said.
"The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was riding an electric bike - e-bike - at the time of the incident. He received treatment at the scene before being transported by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry, where his injuries are understood to be serious.
"A technical examination of the scene has been carried and the road has since reopened to traffic. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
"They are also seeking any camera footage, including dashcam video from those traveling in the area at the time, to assist with the investigation."
