Oisin O'Callaghan has an incredible new set-up at home in Ardpatrick, Co Limerick
Oisin O'Callaghan has unveiled a new home training set-up that will be the envy of cyclists across the country. The top international downhill rider has refurbished his training base at home in Limerick and it has also been stocked with brand new gym equipment.
Now aged 18 years, O'Callaghan had been an up and coming star on the downhill scene for years before he really hit the heights last year when he won the junior title at the UCI MTB Downhill Junior World Championships in Austria.
He also won two rounds of the World Cup, both in Slovenia, and then scooped the RTE Young Sportsperson of 2020 Award to cap an incredible year.
This year was a little trickier as O'Callaghan, from Ardpatrick, sought to defend his junior world crown. The Irish teenager suffered concussion and injury, meaning he had several challenges to overcome.
Still, he was fastest in qualifying at the Worlds in Val di Sole and in the final looked on course to win gold again until he crashed, before getting back on his bike and finishing 5th. He also ended the year on the podium at the World Cup in the US.
One of the most exciting prospects in Irish cycling, O'Callaghan now has the backing of Belfast-based Balance Leisure Fitness. That company has supplied the teenager with commercial grade gym equipment for his home pain cave; with is aimed at building his power and aerobic ability.
It now has a treadmill, StairMaster rowing machine and StairMaster bike, a power rack for weights and an assortment of bar bells, kettle bells and dumbbells along with a WattBike, treadmill and a Concept 2 SkiErg Nordic ski machine.
O'Callaghan is backed by Balance Leisure Fitness and when you go to the company's website you get a 15 per cent discount by using the code Oisin15.
Oisin O'Callaghan will have no excuses next year given this set-up
