Not content with having riders nominated in the 'team of the year' and 'young sportsperson of the year' categories, Irish cycling has collected another nomination at the RTE Sports Awards 2021.

Neil Delahaye, one of the unsung coaching figures behind the scenes, has been shortlisted for Manager of the Year award.

Delahaye - himself an accomplished rider, especially against the clock - was one of the leading figures in a team of personnel behind the national team in Olympic year.

While the Olympic track racing did not go as well as hoped for Ireland, when the Paralympics came around the medals came rolling in.

And hand-cyclist Gary O'Reilly, a relative newcomer to the sport, also took a medal at the Paralympics; securing bronze in the H5 TT.

Delahaye has worked for Cycling Ireland on the coaching and management side of national teams since 2013.

He is among a strong shortlist of contenders for the 'manager of the year' award including: Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan, managers of All Ireland footballer title winners Tyrone; Cathal Murray, who managed Galway to the All Ireland camogie title; Dominic Casey, Ireland's lightweight rowing coach who oversaw Ireland's first rowing gold at the Olympics.
