Nine Irish cyclists have been shortlisted in prestigious end of year awards for their achievements during 2021, and you can vote in two of the competitions.
Once again it's double Paralympic champions Katie George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal who make the biggest impact; the golden duo shortlisted for both the RTE Sports Team of the Year Award and for both the Irish Independent "Sportsperson" of 2021 and "Team" of 2021.
Also shortlisted in the Irish Independent Sportsperson of 2021 awards are: Sam Bennett, Ryan Mullen, Dan Martin and the four women who make up the team pursuit squad that broke the Irish record this year, won World Cup gold and Europeans bronze.
Those four riders are Kelly Murphy, Emily Kay, Mia Griffin and Alice Sharpe. Lara Gillespie has been absent from the set-up this year due to injury but is set to return when she is recovered and back in form.
Joanne Cantwell and Darragh Maloney will present the RTÉ Sport Awards 2021 on Saturday, December 18th, on RTÉ One.
You can vote in the Irish Independent Sports Awards by following this link for the "Sportsperson Award" and to vote immediately in the "Sports Team Award" you should follow this link.
Sam Bennett won the Irish Independent sportsperson award last year and Oisin O'Callaghan claimed the RTE "young sports person" award last year so cyclists have a good record of late.
- Update: Since we published this piece Lara Gillespie has been shortlisted for the RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year award, which you can read all about right here.
