After a huge turnout at the end of last year at a protest against the lack of investment in cycling, another huge event is planned against Shane Ross, the transport minister.
Last October when the Dublin Cycling Campaign decided to take a protest to the office of Transport Minister Shane Ross it was blown away with the response.
The campaign is seeking an increase in the leveling of public spending on cycling infrastructure. It says cycling gets one half of one per cent of total spending on transport and says that figure needs to be 10 per cent.
Since the first protest last October more cyclists have been killed on the roads and it has also emerged that in some parts of Dublin city cyclists are now outnumbering vehicles.
The Dublin Cycling Campaign has proven to be a really powerful voice made up of dedicated campaigners and under the hashtag #allocate4cycling has been very effective in calling for more cycling resources.
You now have the opportunity to join the next protest, going from Shane Ross's office to the Dáil this time. The event is planned for Wednesday, February 22nd.
"Following from our protest last October, we are having another one very soon to remind politicians and officials that we have not gone away and are still calling for them to allocate for cycling," Dublin Cycling Campaign said announcing its latest plans.
"We are gathering outside the office of the Minister of Transport, Tourism & Sport, Shane Ross and departing for Leinster House, Kildare Street, at 1pm," it added of the planned February 22nd protest.
We'll bring you updates as we have them.
