Geraint Thomas was collecting lions and yellow jerseys at the Tour de France, and then he was private jetting it home with a broken collar bone.
Geraint Thomas gets private jet home from Tour
Many things have been written about Team Sky over the years; not all of them nice or even true.
But one thing you can say about them with certainty; they know how to do bling when they try to.
They've had the swankiest team cars at times and even the photography they commission to document their lives is second to none.
But Geraint Thomas travelling home to the UK from the Tour de France by private jet out-blings them all.
He posted a photo of himself strapped up and strapped in as he said goodbye to the race.
Geraint Thomas on the jet; suits you sir!
“Such a s*** day,” he tweeted as he shared the photo of his transport and the X-ray of his injury.
“Nowhere to go when Rafa went down right in front of me. But I'm OK though; thanks for all your messages.”
Thomas was having a fantastic race until his crash coming off the Col de la Biche on yesterday's stage 9.
He had won the opening TT and taken the yellow jersey last Saturday in Dusseldorf. He then held the race lead until the end of stage 5.
Team Sky’s leader Chris Froome took over from Thomas in yellow when the Welshman lost time into La Planche des Belles Filles as Fabio Aru won from Dan Martin.
And while Thomas winning the TT and holding yellow was an incredible achievement, this is the second time in three months a crash has knocked him out of a Grand Tour.
He was sitting 2nd overall at the Giro d’Italia when he was among the riders who hit a police moto on the Blockhaus stage.
In time he may look back on the Giro as the bigger missed opportunity. He had a huge opportunity to win the race outright, as Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) eventually did.

The damage done...
