Cyclists are gathering in Dublin this afternoon, Wednesday, to protest at the chronic lack of investment on infrastructure for cyclists nationwide.

The protest is meeting at the office of Transport Minister Shane Ross TD at Leeson Lane, Dublin 2, and will then move to the Dáil on Kildare St.

The event will depart Minister Ross's office at 1pm and is being organised by the Dublin Cycling Campaign.

Last October when the Dublin Cycling Campaign decided to take a protest to the office of Mr Ross it was blown away with the response.

The campaign is seeking an increase in the leveling of public spending on cycling infrastructure.

Since the first protest last October more cyclists have been killed on the roads and it has also emerged that in some parts of Dublin city cyclists are now outnumbering vehicles.

The Dublin Cycling Campaign has proven to be a really powerful voice made up of dedicated campaigners and under the hashtag #allocate4cycling has been very effective in calling for more cycling resources.
