Emerging star James Curry of Banbridge CC is among a group of young riders who will undoubtedly be in contention now that the call has gone out for juniors and U23s interested in riding in Britain next season to step forward. Curry, seen here representing Ireland at the MTB World Championships in September, is a top prospect across the disciplines; road, MTB and cyclocross.
Cycling Ulster is urging any mountain bikers interested in riding the British National Points Series next year to get in touch and formally seek selection.
A team of junior and U23 riders will represent the province at the XC series on dates between April and August.
A maximum of four riders will be picked on the Cycling Ulster team, with the process open to male and female riders.
Expressions of interest are being sought by Monday, November 30th. To be eligible to represent Ulster a number of criteria apply.
- The rider must have been born in Ulster, belong to an Ulster cycling club or live in Ulster.
- The rider must have a current UCI competition membership licence.
- Year of birth must be in the range 1994 to 1999
“Selection for the team will be based on the 2015 domestic series as well as the rider’s commitment and willingness to work within the team structure,” Cycling Ulster said in a statement.
“This will be combined with trial days where riders will be tested. A selection panel will be in place and team selection will be made and announced by the end of January, 2016.”
Interested parties should email Martin Grimley at [email protected] and include the following details in their mails: full name, club, date of birth, licence number, full address, contact telephone number (parental number if aged under 18 years), availability to attend the British series dates shown below, previous results (with date, event type, event name and location).
