World Triathlon Champs medalist Con Doherty shows race smarts to win John Holian Cup

The winner of Ireland's first Junior European Cup and a silver medalist at the Junior World Cross Triathlon Championships last year, Con Doherty has taken the John Holian Memorial in Co Clare.

Con Doherty of Westport-Covey has won the John Holian Memorial in the village of Cross, Co Mayo.

The junior international triathlete was off in the A3 group, chasing the A4 limit riders and being pursued by the A1-A2 group over a race distance of 60km on a wet and windy evening last evening.

When a group of nine riders pulled clear from the leaders after the A3s had caught the A4s, Doherty was present.
