Tim Pidcock will be present, in the rainbow bands of world champion, at the Dublin round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup next month, with the organisers confirming the British rider will be on the start line.
While the cyclocross fields in the men's and women's races will be packed with the top names in the 'cross, Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) and Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) are stand-out riders, in both cyclocross and road, and will bring real star quality to the Irish event.
And while cyclocross's other big draw, Mathieu van der Poel, has decided to forego the Dublin round of the World Cup in favour of a team training camp in Spain, Irish cycling fans can now look forward to what will hopefully be a great battle for victory involving Van Aert and Pidcock.
The UCI Cyclocross World Cup has been running an advertisement for ticket sales on social media, below, confirming both Pidcock and Van Aert will race in Dublin.
Pidcock has already begun his cyclocross season and at the weekend he was unlucky not to beat Michael Vanthourenhout (Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal) to victory at the Overijse World on Sunday. He suffered several mishaps but looked to have overcome them and was in a race-winning position.
However, Pidcock then crashed late in the race while leading and he eventually had to settle for 2nd place to Vanthourenhout. While denied victory, the British rider's performance showed his form is rapidly sharpening ahead of the Dublin World Cup on Sunday, December 11th.
