Robin Seymour proved his class yet again this afternoon when he won the opening round of the Fixx Coffee Supercross League in Grange Castle, Co Dublin.

The Team WORC rider, who played an integral part in the hosting of today’s contest, is showing no signs of slowing down and signalled his intent for the rest of the season ahead with a fine victory.

He was kept honest by Paul Squeak O’Reilly (UCD-Fitzcycles.ie) who took second after crossing the line around 20 seconds back.

Rounding out the podium was one of the real up and coming riders, David Conroy (Donnybrook Landscaping).

O’Reilly was the first rider to force the issue and an attack by him in the early stages saw him surge clear with the remaining riders seemingly content to sit on Seymour.

But the multiple national champion - and recently-crowned world masters MTB champion took matters into his own hands and he took off in pursuit of the lone leader before catching up.

They worked well together to maintain their half-minute advantage, despite a concerted chase from Conroy and a number of others behind.

Seymour and O’Reilly shared the pace-setting until a lap to go before the former accelerated clear and was never seen again before the line.

The next round of the series takes place on Saturday October 15th.
