There were victories for Eimear O'Reilly (Towers CC) and Garda's Sandra Fitzgerald at the second round of the Orwell Wheelers promoted stickybottle.com women’s criterium league last night.
Despite a bid for glory by Sarah Kennedy (DID Dunboyne) towards the end of the ‘B’ race, the race came down to a bunch sprint on the flat Corkagh Park circuit.
In the final metres, newcomer Eimear O’Reilly outgunned her Clondalkin based Towers CC teammate Lisa Darley Ronan to the win, sprinting home at the head of a 15 strong lead group.
Caroline Martinez took third from St. Tiernan’s Helen Kerrane with 3D Triathlete Sorcha McCann fifth.

The ‘A’ race saw last year's Joe Daly Cycles National League winner Anne Dalton pull clear early on, with former Orwell Women's Criterium League winner Sandra Fitzgerald (Garda / Richie's Bike Store) for company.
Despite the best efforts of a strong chase from the Orwell Wheelers squad behind the duo forged on, dangling up the road for a few laps before finishing 30 seconds clear at the line.

Here, Fitzgerald easily outgalloped Dalton for the win with Sandra Telford leading home the chasers, ahead of Orwell duo Orla Hendron and Rachael Kaye-Mellor.
