While there is a weekend of road and track action ahead in Ireland, the loss of the Kanturk Three Day means there is no road racing on Saturday or Monday.

However, Saturday will see the action kick off on the track with the promotion of the Junior National Championships, with all four events - for male and female juniors - to be run off in one day.

The races unfold at the Eamonn Ceannt Stadium, Sundrive Road, Dublin, with national titles up for grabs in the sprint, 3km pursuit, kilo and 10km scratch race for the males. And for the females the four events are the sprint, 2km pursuit, 500m and 7.5km scratch race.

You can find the schedule of racing for the day by following this link.

The unfortunate feature of the loss of the Kanturk Three Day - cancelled before entries opened - is there is no road racing at all anywhere in Ireland on Saturday, on a Bank Holiday weekend just two months into the 2024 season.

However, there are two road race promotions being held on Sunday in the shape of the Tour of the Mournes and the Castlebar Open Races.

The Tour of the Mournes is being promoted by Newry Wheelers, with two races; one for A1-A2 riders and another for A2-A3s. The events - of 64 miles and 53 miles - always serve up a tough test, with the Spelga Dam included in the final.

You can enter the races by following this link, with the events starting at 9am from Hilltown, Co Down, and the finishes at Spelga Dam.

In Co Mayo on the same day, Castlebar Cycling Club is promoting it's Castlebar Open races - you can enter by following this link.

There are two races being run on the day; one of A2-A3 riders and a separate event for A4s. The A2-A3 race is handicapped and is 97km while the A4s race for 60km.

The races start at Sportlann, McHale Road, Castlebar, where roll-out is at 10.45am for an 11am start.
