Sam Bennett today put in an incredible attack just inside the final kilometre on stage 4 at Vuelta a Burgos to take his third win of the year.
As the video and photos below show, Bennett and his two Deceuninck-QuickStep lead-out men, Shane Archbold and Michael Mørkøv sprinted hard to be first into the final corner.
As the riders rounded that uphill sharp turn right they passed under the red kite for 1km to the finish, with one of the Groupama-FDJ riders and Mørkøv crashing on the corner.
The first 20 riders - fallers aside - managed to get through the corner without any problems and the stage honours were instantly between them; Bennett attacking early and catching the others off guard.
When he went he really put the power down on the climb, opening up a big gap, and proving able to keep it going all the way to the finish for a solo win.
He looks in rare form and these kind of legs, and confidence, should carry him to plenty more wins in the months ahead, including at the Tour de France which starts in four weeks.
