Mark Cavendish became detached from his lead-out men, and had to come from a long way back, but still emerged the winner on stage 2 at the Tour of Oman

Mark Cavendish may not have been sprinting against the fastest men in the world at the end of the Tour of Oman, but his stage 2 victory was very impressive.

As usual, his Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl hit the front in decisive lead-out mode in the final, but Cavendish lost them and was well detached from the team train deep inside the final kilometre.
