Vingegaard waits for Pogačar after he crashes on Tour

Tour de France leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and his main rival for the yellow jersey Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) have both endured heart-stopping moments descending the penultimate big climb on this year's race.

Vingegaard almost crashed as he clipped his left pedal off the road rounding a bend and was forced to get his foot back into the pedals and kick hard to catch Pogačar, as the duo were clear of the other general classification men.

Just moments late, Pogačar made a mess of a left hander and ran off the road before crashing. He was quickly back on his bike, with Vingegaard waiting for him and the two rivals shaking hands when they rejoined as a duo.

Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) and Thibaut Pinot (Groupama FDJ) were up the road at the time, going for the stage 18 win atop Hautacam and both in contention to take - and win - the climbers' jersey on this year's race.
