Sam Bennett has taken a fantastic win at the Vuelta a Burgos after attacking in the final kilometre and riding clear to victory solo.
The Carrick-on-Suir man kicked very early, before the final sprint began, and got a significant gap on the front of the peloton on the uphill finish.
He then rode in the last few hundred metres to take victory ahead of those sprinting it out for 2nd place.
The finish was marred by a crash, with one of the Groupama-FDJ riders falling on an uphill bend with 1km remaining. It was just after that point that Bennett went for glory, with nobody coming close to him.
Best of the rest on the 163km stage from Gumiel de Izán to Roa de Duero was Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ). Rounding out the podium was Giacomo Nizzolo (NTT Pro Cycling).
