Sam Bennett was close on the day but Kristoff just proved too quick for the Irishman. However, it's his first race since Paris-Roubaix and looks in mint condition.

Sam Bennett has taken an impressive podium in the 1.HC-ranked Rund um Den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt in Germany today, Sunday.
The Irishman was beaten by winner Alexandr Kristoff (Katusha) and Etixx-QuickStep's veteran Maximiliano Richeze at the end of the 206 kilometre event.
Bennett came into the final bend in perfect position, lying fifth and looking good as he latched onto the back of the two-man Etixx-QuickStep train.
They were following a similar-sized Katusha train who did a sublime job to tee up Kristoff.
Bennett jumped early and made up ground, passing those who had led out the men who would fill the first two spots on the podium.
However, the line would come too soon and he had to be content with third.
It’s an excellent result from a brilliant field and once again Bora-Argon 18 did a fine job for the Irishman in engineering the opening for him.
They had no man in the day’s break that escaped after 50 kilometres of racing, instead putting all the eggs in the Bennett basket to help reel in the escape.
Bennett’s clearly in good shape three weeks on from his last appointment which was Paris Roubaix and Scheldeprijs a few days before it.
His next assignment will be the Tour of Belgium in a few weeks after which he will start the Criterium du Dauphine in June.
