Sam Bennett has won Race Torquay; his second win of his current racing trip to Australia

Sam Bennett has won Race Torquay, his second victory on his racing trip to Australia after claiming the opening stage last week at the Tour Down Under.

Bennett's perfect start to the season and his tenure with his new team was extended with a sprint win today after a brilliant lead-out by the Irishman's team.

Carrick-on-Suir man Bennett (Deceuninck-QuickStep) won again after the attacking moves were reeled in during the 133km race starting and finishing in Torquay.

Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) and Bennett’s team mate
Dries Devenyns put in a strong attack that was neutralised with one lap to go.

It was then the turn of Team Ineos up and coming star
Pavel Sivakov, though he was also caught after a solo move, paving the way for
a bunch sprint.

Rounding out the podium on the day was Alberto Dainese,
the Italian riding for Team Sunweb.

The win, and the manner in which Bennett’s team worked so
well for him, is a major boost ahead of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
this weekend.

Bennett will be going into that event looking for his third victory of the season and the first one-day WorldTour win of his career.
