Video of the final few kilometres of today's stunning ride by Nicolas Roche on the Vuelta

Final 8kms stage 8 Vuelta a Espana (Jerez de la Frontera to Alto Peñas Blancas)

 

 

Nicolas Roche (Saxo-Tinkoff) took 3rd on the summit finish of stage 8 of the Vuelta a Espana today, Saturday.

He dropped the overall leader Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) on the final climb to take over the race lead. He also maintains his lead in the climbers' classification, leads to combined classification category and is also second on points.

Missing from today's race, sadly, was Roche's cousin Dan Martin (Garmin-Sharp), forced out of the race after crashing late in stage 7 yesterday. He suffered really heavy road rash and also concussion.
