The first weekend's road racing of the new season saw some great competition, no more so than at the George Rooney Phoenix GP yesterday, Sunday.
The races, five in all, were promoted by Phoenix CC with sponsorship from Portview Fit-Out Ltd.
Eoin Morton of UCD CC opened his 2016 account with a great win in the main event.
He sprinted head-to-head with a resurgent, and clearly very strong, Adam Armstrong of ASEA-Wheelworx, with Morton getting a very tight verdict just ahead of the other breakaway men.
Armstrong wasn't happen that Morton maintained a straight line in the sprint but despite an official objection from the runner up, the result stands.
The finishes of all five races yesterday were recorded and have been posted on YouTube by Colin Hughes.
There's some great sprinting action here and all of the clips are very short so you'll watch all of them in no more than a couple of minutes.
