Conn McDunphy has enjoyed one of his best days of the season, taking 4th place in the 185km Paris-Connerré in north western France.
The Irish rider, who competed for Ireland in the European Championships this year, was the fore at the pointy end of the 4½ hour contest on a breezy day that saw the field split to pieces.
After forcing himself into the day's successful breakaway, though he initially missed the move, the final four hilly finishing circuits saw some very aggressive racing.
The 22-year-old Irishman went solo with 7km to go and when he was caught and the finish came down to a group of four.
McDunphy was among that small lead group and was able to lead out his CC Nogent-Sur-Oise team mate, Vincent Pastot, to victory.
He claimed the win just ahead of Maël Guégan (Sojasun Espoir), with David Cotes Boutville (D'Armor-Marie Morin) rounding out the podium two seconds later.
McDunphy was 4th of the four-man group, some four seconds behind the winner. He was just ahead of a four-man chasing group.
