Sean Barrett, a junior rider with O’Leary Stone Kanturk,
has gotten his season off to a strong start in France.

While he will be riding for his home club on the domestic scene in 2020, the secondary school student will also compete at times for VC Pontivyen in France and the Viro Hoppenbreurs team in Holland.

As he is in 5th year, and with no exams this year, Kerry
rider Barrett is hoping to have a strong season.

In his opening race of the campaign in France he placed 6th
in the Grand Prix De Marzan in Brittany from 170 starters.

Barrett got into the breakaway around the halfway point in the 88km race and though Eddy Le Huitouze (EC Pluvignoise) jumped clear to take a solo win, the rest of the escape group survived to sprint it out for 2nd place.

Barrett took 5th in the sprint for the runner-up spot for 6th on the day; the start of a busy season for him combining school with racing.
