Video: Ireland's McCurley in horror bunch crash in Australia

Shannon McCurley left the track in a wheelchair after a very hard crash for a number of riders in the omnium at the latest round of the UCI World Cup in Australia

Shannon McCurley has escaped without significant injury after a crash in the the omnium at the UCI World Cup in Australia.

The Irish rider was a victim of a large crash with a couple of laps remaining in the scratch race.

An Olympian from Rio, McCurley was shaken and suffered leg injuries but no broken bones.

She was a non-finisher in the omnium as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

Before that bad fall in her omnium ride, McCurley teamed up with Lydia Boylan to claim 8th in the madison.

Mark Downey and Felix English were 10th in the men's madison.

Robyn Stewart rode the keirin and sprint and was 22nd and 24th respectively.

That Brisbane meeting concluded the UCI World Cup season for the Irish with the World Track Championships early next year still to count towards Olympic qualification.
