Video: Horse runs out on peloton at new North West Three Day
This horse running out on the bunch on the opening stage of the North West Three Day was a hairy moment.
Veteran riders Brendan Connor (SBR CC) and Robert Curry (Foyle CC) were 1st and 2nd on the opening stage of the new North West Three Day in Derry last night.
The stage, which started and ended in Derry City, was just under 60km and ended in a bunch sprint.

A crash at the last roundabout caused some panic in the field, with the judges deciding to award the same finish time to a total of 30 riders.
The late spill wasn't the only drama to unfold during the stage. At one point a horse bolted out of a field and onto the road ahead of the peloton.
However, the animal was avoided by everyone in the field, with no crashes or injury as a result.
