
Powerhouse Sport and Newry Wheelers have won the gold medals at the Ulster TTT Championships, promoted by Breffni Wheelers last night.
The 40km event was held on an out-and-back course between Butlersbridge in Cavan and Derrylin in Fermanagh. It was the first time in three years an Ulster TTT championships was run.
The Newry Wheelers team of Catherine Sands, Celine Ann McPhillips, Ciara Havern and Nicola Carter clocked a time of 1:00:58. They were 2:22 faster than the Breffni Wheelers team of Sasha Gannon, Aoibheann Bartley and Cathriona O’Brien.
In the men's event, the winning Powerhouse Sport line-up was comprised of Aaron Watson, Aaron Wade, Cathir Doyle and Lindsay Watson; that quartet recording a time of 48:15.
That was just over three minutes faster than Newry Wheelers; Alan Bingham, Des Woods, Mark Gordon and Sean Featherstone the men taking the men's silver medal on the night.
The promoting
club also took a medal in the men’s race with its ‘A’ selection of Mark Quigley, Padraic O'Brien, Ronan Fitzpatrick and
Fergus Keogh recording a time of
52:14 for bronze.
