Video: Footage emerges of Nicolas Roche's crash on Vuelta stage 10

Nicolas Roche looks dazed as he gets back onto his feet following his stage 10 crash on Monday's Vuelta; his team mate fixing up his bike for him.

Nicolas Roche came down in a crash on Monday's Vuelta stage 10 for the second day running, with the footage below showing the Irish man on the ground and dazed.

He came a cropper at a roundabout with 50km remaining on the 146.6km stage from Valencia to Castellon.

Thankfully, he had assistance from his team mates in helping to fix up his bike just as the final hour of the stage was ramping up.

And a number of Team Sky riders dropped back and helped him regain the much thinned out peloton, ensuring he maintained his 4th place overall.

Roche's team mates dropped back to help him and at one stage three were helping the Irishman back on to the main field.

His team leader Chris Froome apparently came around on the final climb to the finish on Sunday to come 2nd on the stage and move up overall after looking less than convincing in the opening week of racing.

However, judging by the effort Sky put into getting Roche back into the pack today, he is clearly enjoying protected rider status to an extent.

His fall on Monday, which left him badly cut and bruised, followed his stage 9 crash on Sunday when he escaped serious injury.

He now has Tuesday’s rest day in Andorra to rest and recovery as best he can before the hostilities resume.
