Having taken the yellow jersey after stage 2 of the An Post Rás last year, Belfast man Peter Hawkins promptly crashed the following day in the jersey and was forced out of the race with a broken collar bone.

Since then he's changed teams from IG Sigma Sport to Madison Genesis. The squad, with Hawkins in the line-up, was in action at the weekend in the first major UK pro race of the year, the two-day Tour of the Reservoir.

Hawkins took second on the first day after a really aggressive ride and consolidated that position yesterday, with his team mate and stage 1 winner Alex Peters wrapping up the overall win.
