Matthew Teggart won last night's main event at the Banbridge Criterium just ahead of John Buller and Dean Harvey. Teggart (WiV SunGod) took the victory at the end of an aggressive battle, which saw the field split to pieces.
While Buller, riding for French team Amicale Cycliste Bisontine, is a renowned sprinter, the Irish U23 road race champion had to be content with the runner-up placing behind Teggart. Harvey (Spellman Dublin Port) claimed 3rd after his victory in the Shay Elliott Memorial in Co Wicklow last weekend.
Just behind Harvey last night, Paul Antoine Hagan took 4th place for host club Banbridge CC, with Darnell Moore (Caldwell Cycles) in 5th a few seconds back, and having tried to get clear on his own.
In the A3 race, Noel Doyle (Team Vision Racing) won from Travis Harkness (VC Glendale) and Christopher Marshall (Orwell Wheelers CC) while Jennifer Neenan (Sundrive Track Team) won the women's category.
Victory in that race came down to a sprint from the a front group, with Doyle just about holding off junior rider Harkness, who initially believed he had won.
