The organisers of Rás Tailteann have experienced an unprecedented level of interest from teams in the UK as the Irish event is the only stage race many of the teams will be able to ride this season.

The shortage of stage races in Britain means many teams from there are very keen to compete in the Irish race as it returns for the first time since 2018.

Irish riders and teams are urged the get their entries in as quickly as possible, with the entry system having formally opened today, Wednesday.

“Due to significant international interest, Cáirde Rás Tailteann encourages domestic teams to register without delay to ensure team berths in the 2022 event,” race organisers Cáirde Rás Tailteann said in a statement today launching the entry process.

Entries are open to club and county riders only – with no Continental teams or other A+ riders permitted – though the Irish Continental team EvoPro Racing is allowed to ride. The race organisers said while the event is not open to individual riders, they can be catered for “as part of composite, regional or provincial teams”.

One person can enter a team on behalf of five riders and while a list of names of those riders must be submitted, the line-up can be changed at a later date.

The five stages that make up this year’s race, some 756.8km from June 15th to 19th, are:

  • Stage 1, Wednesday June 15: Dublin to Horse and Jockey (140.2km)

The cost of team entry is €600 plus a service charge levied by Eventmaster of €36 per team, payable in full. That amounts to an entry fee of €120 per rider plus the Eventmaster fee. A maximum of two A3 riders are allowed per team.
