The Trinity Racing team owned by Irish sports agent Andrew McQuaid will have two young Irish riders in its ranks next year.

Matthew Devins has re-signed with the UCI Continental team for 2022 and Kevin McCambridge has joined the UK-based outfit as a new rider for next year.

Devins (19) was a first-year U23 rider this year and though the pandemic curtailed international racing opportunities for most development teams, he got a good run with Trinity Racing and the Irish U23 team with races in Belgium France, Italy and the Netherlands.

He finished the majority of the major races he rode; a crucial first development phase for any young rider stepping up from the domestic junior racing scene to elite European pro racing.

Devins was selected onto the Irish team this year for both Kreiz Breizh Elites (2.2) in France and the U23 road race at the European Championships in Italy.

McCambridge is another very exciting prospect for Ireland and won the U23 TT title at the National Road Championships this year. He also represented Ireland at the Tour de l'Avenir and Kreiz Breizh Elites as well as the Europeans and the Worlds.

Having just turned 20-years-old in October, McCambridge is also a former Irish junior TT champion and is regarded as a very strong climber.

While his stint with AVC Aix En Provence in France this year - his second season as an U23 - was interrupted by catching Covid-19 and breaking his collarbone in a racing crash, his potential has clearly been spotted by McQuaid.

Both Devins and McCambridge are part of a 17-man roster assembled by Trinity Racing for next year.

That roster includes Briton Thomas Gloag, who finished 4th overall at the Baby Giro this year. He was also 5th overall until the final day of the Tour de l'Avenir when crash injuries forced him to abandon.

American Luke Lamperti also returns to Trinity Racing for 2022 after winning the elite US criterium championships in June; the youngest ever winner of that title, aged just 18 years.

Former Irish road race champion, Ben Healy, rode for Trinity Racing this year but has now moved on to the WorldTour with EF Education Nippo. While fellow Irish rider Finley Newmark was part of the team for the last two years, his name was not on the Trinity Racing roster for 2022 released by the team today.
