Felix English has put in the finish of his life at the UCI World Cup in Glasgow to win gold in the scratch race.
The Irish rider, who was one of the UK scene's top criterium riders during his career on the road, used all his track and road speeed and craft to deny the European champion on the final lap today.
When the fight for gold and silver became a head-to-head between English and the European champion Sebastian Mora, the Irish rider had too much for his Spainish rival.
Behind the winner and runner-up, Germany's Maximilian Beyer won the battle for bronze from Great Britain's Oliver Wood.
Felix English and Mora gained at least one lap on everyone else in the race and took two laps on seven of the riders in the 20-man field.]
It is English's second World Cup after claiming gold in the Madison with Mark Downey two years ago.
More to come.
