Adam Stenson has put to rest a frustrating lay-off due to injury by romping in to win the Dunsany Grand Prix today, Saturday.
The NRPT-Magnet.ie made the winning escape in terrible conditions in Co Meath, where rain and cold temperatures greeted the riders.
And having shown many times he has an impressive turn of speed if he gets a whiff of the whitewash, Stenson took the sprint from the eight-rider escape.
The dominance of A3 racing by juniors was clearly in evidence again, with no fewer than six riders in the escape from the junior ranks.
Stenson led home from the up and coming Patrick Goszczyk of Bikeworx, with Freddie Stevens of Scott Orwell rounding out the podium.
The escape also included the Leech boys – Ciaran and Conor – from Clonard CC, as well as Jack Caldwell of Bikeworx, Ronan Grimes of Scott Orwell and Aaron Cullen Lucan CRC.
Aideen Keenan of Scott Orwell was first woman home in the A3-Junior race.
And Keenan’s team mate Simon Sheridan held on to take the win in the A4 race in a mass gallop to the line.
Sheridan beat Alan Connolly of Lakeside Wheelers into 2nd place, with Michael Mills of Navan RC taking the final spot on the podium.
