One week after winning the Shay Elliott Memorial on home roads, Matt Teggart is back in France and showed good late season form again yesterday when he proved competitive at the end of a hard race.
The Irish rider, competing for VC Villefranche Beaujolais, was in action in the 181km elite national Paris-Chalette-Vierzon in Chalette-sur-Loing, north eastern France. While a nine-man breakaway stayed clear, Teggart was 2nd in a bunch sprint to take 11th on the day.
He was just ahead of former Banbridge CC team mate John Buller; the AMC Besancon rider taking 12th. Teggart shared a brief update on social media last night about the race, saying it involved the best elite riders in France.
While the breakaway had stayed away he was pleased to be competitive in the finale, adding it was good to see Buller also in the mix.
“On a side note, extremely disappointed to have not been given the chance to use this form in the elite World Championships tomorrow, although I wish the Irish lads all the best of luck,” he added.
