Having stayed with the leading A1s last week and been sprinting for victory, Billy Crosbie used that form last night to get his win at Mondello Park.
Crosbie, of the Sundrive Track Team, got the better of Helton Djonei Gomes (Scott Orwell Wheelers) at the finish on a night when the A4s got organised and stayed away.
That they stayed clear is perhaps no surprise considering last week. The leading pair last night were also in the limit group last Tuesday.
They broke clear of the other A4s and showed their strength in holding off the rest of the field for the majority of that race seven days ago.
Indeed, only the leading three A1 men on the evening caught them; Anthony Doyle (Strata 3-VeloRevolution), Robert Jon McCarthy (JLT-Condor) and Cian Keogh (Sports Room Racing.
The A1 riders filled the top three placings followed by Gomes and Crosbie; a very good ride by both.
And last night they went one better; holding off everyone in the groups behind in a small pack of strong A4s.
With a coveted, and rare, win up for grabs among the A4s at the finish, the leading group split in the final surge for the finish.
Crosbie came out on top, finishing a couple of lengths ahead of Gomes.
Crosbie's team mate Richard Grant rounded out the top three, making it a very tidy night for Sundrive Track Team.
And then came three further A4s; Pawel Rybak (Lucan CRC), Joe Clohessy (Upperchurch Drombane) and Noel Brannigan (Naas CC).
Like Smith (Viner-Caremark-Pactimo) took the A1 prize and Peter O'Toole (UCD-FitzCycles.ie) was leading A2 rider.
Shane Foley (Unattached) claimed the A3 prize, with Liam Curley (NRPT-Chill Insurance) the leading junior.
Jennifer Bates (Gerard Cycles-DHL), who has been called up to the Irish paracycling team this season, took the women's prize on the night.
