Sundrive and UCD crowned Irish team pursuit champions for 2021

Sundrive Track Team and UCD Cycling Club have won the team pursuit titles at the National Track Championships 2021.

The Sundrive quarter - Aisling Conlan, Sofie Loscher, Susie Mitchell and Claire Ní Reachtagáin – clocked a time of 5.30.35 for the 4km event, just clinching the title in what was a tight battle for gold.

Weston Homes-Torelli-Assure - Jennifer Bates, Roisin Lally, Aoife O’Brien and Caoimhe O’Brien – took the team pursuit silver in a time of 5.31.72, just over one second off the winning time.

That result for the silver medal winners meant Caoimhe
O’Brien was taking her third medal of the track championships after winning
silver in the scratch race at the weekend as well as bronze in the individual
pursuit.

And her sister Aoife's presence in the silver medal-winning team pursuit line-up meant she was taking a medal at senior nationals despite still being in the junior ranks.

Arcane Cycling Team - Julia Cooper, Elizabeth Kent, Rachel McBride and Keela MacHale – claimed the team pursuit championships bronze medal in a time of 5.51.28.

In the men’s team pursuit event, the UCD Cycling Club
team - Simon Jones, Jason Kenny, Rhys Kenny and Sean Landers – clocked a time
of 4.44.50 to win the title.

The Sundrive Track Team A - Ben Delaney, Billy Crosbie,
John Caffrey and Sean Curtis – took silver in a time of 4.47.36. Delaney adds
that silver to the gold he won in the omnium national title race last month.

The team pursuit bronze went to Orwell Wheelers riders Daniel
Mc Elroy, Valdis Andersons, Ian Donnelly and Ken O’Neill in 5.06.04. Donnelly
had also won a silver at the weekend in the scratch race.
