Strong start in France for Rás Tailteann champ Dillon Corkery

Dillon Corkery has started a UCI-ranked French stage race with a very strong performance on the opening day of action

Dillon Corkery (CC Étupes) is back in action again in France after his career-best win on home roads last month when he captured the final yellow jersey on a dramatic last day of action at Rás Tailteann.

While the 24-year-old has already ridden Paris-Troyes and Tour du Beaujolais since his Rás win, he was 74th in the former and abandoned the latter. However, he now very much looks like he is back at it properly.

He placed 6th, of 137 starters, in the opening TT yesterday at Tour du Pays de Montbéliard (2.2), a three-day event in the department of Doubs in eastern France near the Swiss border. In the 3.2km TT in Courcelles-lès-Montbéliard he was eight seconds down on stage winner Marceli Bogusławski, a Polish 25-year-old riding with Alpecin-Deceuninck Development.
