
Eoin Mullen is one of three Irish riders in action in Scotland this weekend at the track World Cup
Cycling Ireland has named a strong team with a mix of youth and experience for the UCI World Cup track meeting in Glasgow this weekend.
Martyn Irvine, Caroline Ryan and Eoin Mullen will all be chasing vital points in Scotland towards qualification for the World Track Championships in Belarus next year.
This weekend’s meeting is the second of three World Cups this season, with the next one to be held in Mexico in January. The 2013 Track World Championships will then be held in Minsk at the end of February
Olympian Irvine will ride the individual pursuit and scratch race this weekend. Worlds bronze medallist Ryan will take in the omnium. Both she and Irvine have been preparing at a training camp in Palma in recent weeks under the guidance of coach Andy Sparks.
Teenager Mullen, who is based at the UCI’s World Cycling Centre in Switzerland working with Tim Carswell, will compete in the sprint and keirin events this weekend.
