Damien Shaw has continued his excellent season by taking a very strong victory in the latest round of the Bike Worx Series in Mondello Park, Co Kildare.
The Aquablue strongman rode very aggressively throughout the event last night, Tuesday; going clear in what proved to be the winning four-man move and then pressing on alone to take a clear win.
With Shaw in that escape were Tim O'Regan (DID Dunboyne), Fergus Whelan (Adamstown) and Brian Ahern (Orwell Wheelers). The quartet pulled clear with three laps remaining and while they organised very quickly and pulled out a good gap on the group behind, Shaw did not hang around in that move for too long.
He attacked on his own with two laps remaining and then used his renowned power to simply time trial to the finish, pulling out what proved to be a large gap by the finish. The three riders he had escaped from stayed clear to take the minor places, with O'Regan taking second, Whelan in third and Ahern in fourth place.
