Stephanie Roche and junior Joseph Mullen (16) win elite races in Cavan

Stephanie Roche (Scott Bright Motor Group) and junior rider Joseph Mullen (Navan Road Club) have won the main events at 'Round 4' of the Ulster Cyclocross Series promoted by Breffni Wheelers in Castle Saunderson, Co Cavan, today.

It was Mullen's second win in an elite cyclocross event as the 16-year-old had claimed victory in the Big Red Cloud Series in Co Louth last month, while he finished 2nd in the elite race at the Leinster series three weeks ago. Roche was also taking her second win of the new campaign after winning in the Leinster series in Kells, Co Meath, three weeks ago.

Today, new junior rider Mullen topped the elite podium from Irish junior road race champion Oisin Ferrity (Island Wheelers) - the winner of the elite race 'Round 3' of the Ulster series in Killinchy, Co Down last weekend. Rounding out the podium today was Kevin McCambridge (Trinity Racing), a Rás Tailteann stage winner this year and a newcomer to the cyclocross scene.

In the women's race, Leinster champion Roche was best today ahead of Niamh Stephens (Giant Liv Dublin) and Heather Foley (Yeats Country Cycling Club).
