The video footage of the final sprint in the 160km men's race at the Commonwealth Games in England today shows just how close Matthew Teggart was to taking a medal.
The Northern Ireland rider was locked in a battle with Scotland's Finn Crockett for the last step on the podium and it looks like Teggart just ran out of road, with Crockett surviving for the bronze.
Aaron Gate (New Zealand) won it well; taking the sprint on and looking very impressive as he sprinted in for gold. Daryl Impey (South Africa) was just behind him to take the silver and then came the much tighter fight for the bronze.
Taggert had to dart to his left, coming off a straight line, in order to find a clear run at the line after deciding to hang back a little as the sprint began. And while he looked to be charging through to take Crockett on the line, he had to be content with 4th place.
