Slow-motion film of Martyn Irvine's historic World Cup win; with podium, national anthem

Here's a great little video featuring slow motion highlights of Martyn Irvine's win at the UCI World Cup in Manchester last evening,
Saturday.

Irvine took the points race ahead of Olympic omnium champion Lasse Norman Hansen of Denmark, with Italy's Elia Viviani - an Italian top rode sprinter with ProTour team Cannondale - taking the bronze medal.

We covered Irvine's win very comprehensively last night as it happened; with reports, photographs and video.

But this new clip is really brilliant, so we have no hesitation in bringing it to you to add to the column inches already penned.

It shows Irvine, not only in the race but also on the podium getting his gold medal, with the tricolour being heisted and the Irish national anthem playing over the full film.

It was an historic day for both Irvine and Ireland because the win was Irvine's first ever gold at a World Cup and Ireland's first World Cup win in 18 years; with Declan Lonergan winning the points race in Cuba in 1995.
